The whole area is a Natural Park: its environment is protected and intact with a rich fauna, a various vegetation, many streams, falls and lakes. The Adamello-Brenta Natural Park was instituted in 1988, it is the biggest protected area in Trentino and its surface includes 37 different villages.

From June to September events, activities and excursions are organized within the natural park to discover and learn how to respect it. Special activities are reserved to the children: excursions, laboratories, games with short walks and equipped trails. All of these activities are done with the park staff together with Alpine guides.

With “Parco Card” you can visit local museums and taste several typical products.

History and culture in Madonna di Campiglio

In 1886 Franz Josef  Oesterreicher chose Madonna di Campiglio as holiday place of the “House of Habsburg” with its famous icon, empress Sissi.
To recall that period, the so-called “Carnevale Asburgico” ( Habsburg Carnival) is taking place since 20 years in Madonna di Campiglio. It’s a cultural and turistic manifestation that makes you plunge into that historical atmosphere with masked balls, gala dinner and people dressed up walking around or skiing on the slopes.

Typical dishes of Val Rendena are, for sure, cold meats, salami and cheese, polenta with mushrooms and deers, spinach “gnocchi” and “canederli”. Taste them all in one of the mountain huts on the slopes or in one of Madonna di Campiglio’s restaurants.

Those who loves sweets and cakes will not be disappointed by carrots’cakes, apple pies, strudel, “fregolotti” cakes and cooked cream with wild berries or chocolate.

At the end of your meals don’t forget to try one of our flavoured "grappa" made of spirit and wild berries and high-flying plants, such as “mugo” or “asperula”.

Other typical dishes that deserve to be mentioned are: “salame and salamella with garlic”, “cotechino”, flavoured lard, “mortandela”, pig meatball with liver and spices, garlic bacon, “Spressa”, ancient cheese of the valley, which comes from the  Rendena’s cows.

Vie Ferrate

The highest number of "vie ferrata" of the alps are in the Brenta Group. The paths cross the Dolomites Group from north to south and from east to west in a facinating landscape. The most famous "via Ferrata" is the "Bocchette" from Grostè to XII Apostoli Hut in the southern part of the Brenta Group.

Mountain Bike

Dolomites Nordic Walking Park in Madonna di Campiglio is composed by 6 different itineraries with different level of difficulty and steepness. They leave right from Campiglio and develops for 32 kilometers.

Motorbike Lakes'tour

This tour, starting in Madonna di Campiglio, is approximatley 200 km long. It cross valleys and passes, passing by lakes and falls. The lakes’ tour presents many bends and exciting roads and it leads you to Campo Carlo Magno Pass, first to Tovel Lake and then to Molveno lake. It's a classic motorbike-tour in Trentino.

Skiing in Madonna di Campiglio

Madonna di Campiglio ski area has 57 modern lifts, with an anti-queue skipass system which read the skipass in proximity without having to pull it into the reader. The Ski area offers 60 km of different level ski slopes, with lifts starting from the centre of the town and slopes finishing in the same point.
The Skirama Dolomiti Adamello Brenta skipass allows you to access the Folgarida and Marilleva ski area, directly linked "skis on", for over 110 chilometers of slopes.

The 3-Tre slope in Campiglio is a famous "historic" slopes in the very center of the town. When it was made in 1948 slalom and even downhill races took place on its steep descent. Today ot's still organized a slalom race whichi takes place at sunset with the slopes lighted up.

Those who love long, panoramic and plane slopes will find their paradise in Grostè slopes; while the more experts will appreciate Spinale "direttissima", which start on the top of the mountain ending in the town. This is a black slope very difficult and steep expecially in the last part. The final part of Direttissima has been called "Micheal Schumacher Streif" to honour the famous Formula 1 pilot.

There are 10 ski schools in Madonna di Campiglio with over 300 ski teachers that, with privat or group lessons, will teach you the latest techinques. Their passion and experience will be very useful either to those who have never skied before, or to those who just want to improve or to do races.

Other than skiing, it is also possible to snow boarding, do cross-country ski, waking in the snow with snowshoes, ice skating.

Expecially for children sledogg excursions starting in "Piana di Nambino".

Ursus Snowpark is the slope equipped for snowboarders, is 1 km long and it is locaed in Grostè area. Thanks to the ground properties, it is really well disposed: it has many jumps and other structures. This snowpark also offers different levels trails, for beginners and experts.

If you want to cross-country skiing in Madonna di Campiglio there are 22 km of slopes in the Natural Park Adamello Brnta in Campo Carlo Magno:
