Canazei is located in Val di Fassa in the valley right next to the Marmolada, and right there the Marmolada shows its beautiful pink surface. Canzei is in between the dolomitic faces of Vernel and Sella, at 1465 m above sea level. It has 1.842 inhabitants and it is one of the most famous resorts in Trentino Alto Adige.
 

Canazei Val di Fassa

From Canazei you can reach “Sella” or “Pordoi” passes. From Pordoi Pass there is a cable car getting to the top off Sass Pordoi, 2950 m above sea level.

Skiing in Canazei

Canazei is one of the access door that brings you to Dolomiti Superski, one of the most famous ski areas of the Alps in Trentino Sudtirol.

From the town it is possible to easly reach ski slopes in four different ski areas:

  • Belvedere
  • Ciampac
  • Col Rodella
  • Marmolada

In Canazei there are Col Rodella and Belvedere ski-areas, which connects to the Sellaronda circuit. It has a total of 32 ski slopes (16km) ans it is served by 26 ski lift systems, which give Canazei a lot of presige and importance bewteen those who love skiing and others snow sports.

Excursions at high altitude on the tops above Canzei, guarantee amazing landscapes, colours, sounds, tastes, and tipical fragrances from the Dolomites.

Canazei Val di Fassa estate e inverno

In the ice rink “G. Scola”, many hockey meetings are taken place by the local team S.H.C. Fassa Levoni, which plays in the highest league in the National Championship.

Both in winter and in the summer, Canzei is site of many international sport manifestation, such as Sellaronda Skimarathon, a ski touring race that take place in the night in the Dolomites; Dolomites Skyrace and the high-flying World Cup running race.

In July during the manifestation “Te anter i tobiè”, for three days, all the barns are opened to all the people that want to visit it and discover all the ancient misteries of these places. 

In the end of August, even in Canazei (like in all the other ladine valleys) there is “Grand Festa da d’Istà”, a festival where you will be able to see typical costumes, shawls, hats, aprons, jackets and trousers, all made by hand, and all of these hams and wefts chage town by town.

Canazei and the Ladin Gastronomy

In Canazei in Val di Fassa, sport, relax and activies at the open air are all related with the typical food: a hot plate with polenta cooked in a copper pot, a chopping board with different kind of cheese and cold cuts, “canederli”, barley soup, ravioli “cajonie”, crauti with sasauges, ribs and pig yoke.
And for those who are greedy, the tipical strudel, fortaes, fritter and other fried desserts, all home made.
Typical dishes which deserve to be mentioned are honey and cheese, such as “Puzzone di Moena” or “Spetz tsaorì” and “Nostrano di Fassa”.

These and others are the specialities that can be eaten in our typical and characteristic locals. Most of them belong to families and they are in mountain style, even in the most elegant and refined restaurants.
